Mark, Sal, Dave, Liz, Alison, Tad, Franz and Carey were present.
Mark and Tad reported on their meeting of the previous week with Jeff Sandgrund from the Parks Dept. Mike was also at that meeting. Jeff said we'd be able to build new benches around two of the large trees in the run. Parks Dept. can turn on power in the light pole in the run if we need it to build the benches. We can purchase a picnic table also. The benches and table must be freestanding though we can chain down the table if necessary. Jeff will check to see if we can replace the existing fence with chain link and build a new large gate for truck deliveries of wood chips. He also suggested we rake out the tree pits.
After the report, the group made the following decisions regarding these projects:
Benches
Mark will coordinate with Mike and Katherine. He'll see if they can finalize the design of the benches and let us know what materials to buy. Dave offered his car to pick up materials. We'll need to pick the construction day in advance so we can ask for power if necessary and so we have time to enlist volunteers to help. Everyone in the working group will need to find a volunteer for the day-of.
Picnic Table
Dave will compare prices on tables. Tad will contact Jeff for quotes on the tables that Parks Dept. uses if necessary. Dave will let Mark and Tad know when he wants to buy the table so Mark can pay for it from the treasury.
Fence
Tad will start to price materials for a new fence. He will look for a small enough gauge fencing so that we can do away with the rat wire. He will also coordinate with Jeff to find out if and how we can proceed.
Cleanup Day
Dave will organize the May cleanup day and will organize it. We will have food at the cleanup days. Tad will organize the grocery shopping and Alison will help with cooking. In addition to spreading wood chips we will rake out the tree pits.
Bulletin Board
Tad has a weatherproof, locked bulletin board we can hang on the pole in the run. We can hang it at the next cleanup day.
Fundraising
Everyone in the working group should start taking digital photos in the dog run so we have plenty of candid and group shots for next year's calendar. We will likely have to do another round of fundraising this summer to build the fence and leave us some money for the calendars.
Online Resources
Carey will work to link our website and Yahoo group to other sites. She will also look into setting up a paypal account for Cooper Bark. Mark will give her all the usernames and passwords for our sites and email accounts.
Contact Info
Mark will circulate the contact information for everyone in the group working on these projects so we can organize without generating a lot of email on the Yahoo group.
