Yes, it really is our very own! What I am writing to tell you about really is amazing.
NYCDOG, New York City’s largest dog owners group have joined The American Cancer Society to put on their first festival in Queens by, for, and about dog lovers and their pets.
This is truly a great opportunity for our group and the American Cancer Society as neither of us would be able to do it alone. The Cancer Society has the organizational machinery, but we have the membership. Our reputation will certainly grow and establish us as a group that is interested in more than just dogs. We will be seen as a group that cares about serious problems that affect all of us and uses our strength in numbers for the greater good. Day by day as this event grows, I have seen our reputation grow along with it. Our profile and visibility is rising in a positive way. I love the fact that we can contribute to a great cause, have a wonderful time in the park with our dogs, and build our reputation all at the same time! What a publicity coupe!
And it is designed to be easy to take part in as you can walk as little or as much as you like and there are no additional funds to raise unless you want to. It will be a day to meet and mingle with your pet while we show support for a cause that has touched many. Parking is available.
Below is some general information that is being circulated to the public. Please share it with your members and do whatever you can to spread the word. As the events’ Co-Chair, The Juniper Park Dog Association is counting on our fellow dog owners to register and help us make a good showing. Since we have a web site, it will be easy to do! DOGSWALK FESTIVAL is a unique event that merges all things dog with an old fashioned fair in the shadow of the Sphere at the site of the World’s Fair setting!
Attractions will include: An adoption event and low cost micro chipping held by the Mayor’s Alliance for Animals, music, demonstrations of dog obedience, live entertainment, food, contests, animal face painting, raffles, vendors and more.
NYCDOG and its members have joined in partnership with The American Cancer Society because we support its mission to eradicate cancer in human and canine alike. We particularly approve of its no animal testing policy. Your registration of $20.00 for an individual, or $30.00 per family up to four will help us reach that goal.
