Dogs are prohibited from being off leash in Cooper Park

As a result of an incident on Saturday morning at the park where a
woman and her dog were both bit by a dog running off leash, the Parks
Department would like to remind all dog owners at Cooper Bark that at
NO TIME are dogs allowed off leash within Cooper Park, except in the
confines of the dog run.

There are only a handful of parks that fall under the 9pm-9am off
leash designation, and our park is NOT one of them. The Parks
department can fine you for having your dog off-leash at Cooper Park -
(I believe the minimum fine is $100). As a general rule, if a dog run
exists, then there are no off-leash hours in that park. See the link
for a complete listing of these parks. Please note how parks are
categorized as either having a dog run OR having off leash designated
hours.

Also, as both a courteous and responsible dog owner, please, please,
please, if you know your dog has aggression issues (either human or
canine) DO NOT ever let your dog off leash and out of control where it
may harm others.
